8th Annual Eatonton One Day Paint Out & Workshops

The Eighth Annual Eatonton One Day Paint Out will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024. The day consists of two main events: Workshops (advance registration required) and a Paint Out (advance registration recommended). You may complete the online registration form below, or print and complete the form (click for Rules and Regulations). Please send the completed form along with the payment per the instructions on the form.

WORKSHOPS

**Workshops are now full** If you would like to be put on a waitlist, please call the Gallery at 706-623-7757.  From 9:00 am – 12:00 pm we are pleased to offer two Plein Air Workshops ($50) taught by award-winning Plein Air painters and instructors: Celeste McCollough Celeste McCollough Fine Art and Shane McDonald shanemcdonaldstudios.com. Each workshop only has room for 10 participants, so be sure to register early! See more information about the instructors below.

PAINT OUT

Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Registration for the Paint Out is $20. Please be sure to read the full rules and regulations. Artists must begin painting at or after 1:00 p.m. the day of the event and submit the painting to event organizers by 5:00 p.m. No work can be done after 5:00 p.m. Artists should paint outdoors within one mile of the registration location at The Artisans Village Art Gallery, 110 W. Marion St, Eatonton, GA. 31024. There are cash prizes (1st: $150; 2nd: $100; 3rd: $75.).  Judging will be done by the workshop instructors. The event will be held rain or shine, so come prepared. We highly recommend you register in advance for the Paint Out so we can provide recommended locations to paint and suggestions for inclement weather locations as well. However, we do accept walk-ups on the day of the event.

PLEIN AIR WORKSHOPS:

**Workshops are now full** Please join us for hands-on Plein Air workshops on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 9:00 to 12:00, just prior to the Eatonton One Day Paint Out. Award-winning Plein Air artists and teachers Celeste McCollough and Shane McDonald will each teach a workshop. Both artists have painted Plein Air extensively and have taught many Plein Air workshops. Topics will include how to compose on-site and how to get the most out of your materials. For the Material Supply lists for both instructors, PLEASE CLICK HERE. We will have indoor accommodations in the event of inclement weather.

Advance registration is required and must be received by April 19, 2024. Registration may be made online using the form below or by printing and sending the completed application to Treasurer, 123 Smith Court, Eatonton, GA along with a check for $50 made payable to TAVG.

WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS:

CELESTE McCOLLOUGH (OIL/ACRYLIC):

Celeste McCollough’s work has been collected throughout the United States and in Europe. She has exhibited in numerous national shows and has received multiple awards. An upbringing in rural Georgia followed by a full career and life in the city have given Celeste an appreciation for every type of subject – cityscapes, landscapes, and peoplescapes. Her irresistible urge to observe keeps her eye and brain engaged as she seeks to express in paint what she experiences in life.
Representative national shows: Olmsted Plein Air International; Impressionist Society of America; National Oil and Acrylic Painters; Oil Painters of America; Pastel Society of America.  Visit Celeste’s Website

SHANE MCDONALD (OIL/ACRYLIC)

Shane McDonald has created fine art oil and pastel portraits for patrons throughout the Southeast since obtaining his BA degree in Art from Kennesaw State University in 1992. His training in classical drawing and painting paired with his willingness to embrace the current trends in contemporary art has enabled him to maintain respect as a fine artist and instructor in the Atlanta area. Having served the art community as a mentor for youngsters by teaching and demonstrating at schools, as a facilitator of art critiques and open studio figure drawing groups, and as a leader for arts organizations, Shane lives his life around art. Currently Shane’s fine art landscapes are represented by Robert Kent Gallery in Marietta, GA. Figurative works and still-life paintings can also be seen in his commercial studio and gallery in at the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta, GA. Proficiency in diverse subject matter and media has also enabled Shane to create masterful murals in public institutions and private residences, but his name is best known for his exquisite portraits in oil and pastel.  Shane has won numerous awards for his works at juried competitions. His paintings are in the permanent collections at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Kennesaw State University, and the Zuckerman Museum of Art.  Visit Shane’s Website
