Join this captivating workshop led by Dana W. Thompson, an award-winning watercolor artist and a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this class will ignite your creativity and deepen your understanding of watercolor techniques.

Course Overview:

Explore Brush Techniques: Dive into a range of brush strokes, from delicate washes to bold textures. Learn how to wield your brushes to capture the essence of landscapes.

Master Color and Composition: Discover the magic of color mixing and composition. Dana guides you through selecting the right hues and arranging elements to create striking scenes.
Embrace Light and Texture: Watercolor’s expressive capabilities shine when portraying light and texture. Dana shares her insights on capturing the play of light and the tactile feel of nature.
Step-by-Step Process: Follow Dana’s step-by-step process for painting realistic landscapes. From the initial sketch to the final washes, you’ll gain confidence in your watercolor skills.

Aspiring artists who want to learn how to paint realistic landscapes with watercolors. Those with a basic understanding of drawing, perspective, and color.

Cost of Class:  $280     ($250 + $30 supply fee)

Supplies to be provided: The $30 supply fee includes rough 140 lb. Arches Paper, mounting board, spray bottles, reference photos, and paint palette with artist-grade paints.

Supplies for students to bring:  

  • painters’ tape
  • 2 water containers
  • Paper towels
  • dish sponge
  • Mr. clean magic eraser (Original)
  • 4H pencil and kneadable eraser
  • Various brushes including a 1″ -1 1/2″ hake brush, and a small rigger or script brush
  • Dip pen and masking fluid.  (I prefer PEBEO brand)
  • Scratching tools (such as a x-acto knife)
