Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes

Dual Vision

Dual Vision: Art through Different Eyes is a collaboration between The Artisans Village Guild and Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee (APLO). Members of the photography club bring their best photos to a guild meeting and each guild member gets to pick up to two of them to transform into any medium of art of their choosing. This event is open to all members of the Art Guild and results in a beautiful side-by-side show in Downtown Eatonton.

Wednesday, September 28 – Exhibit back at The Artisans Village Art Gallery through October.

We hope you all enjoyed the display and special activities at this gorgeous venue!

The Guild Board is thrilled to announce that we have the opportunity to host our Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes Reception on September 15, 2022, at beautiful, historic Barrel 118, located in downtown Eatonton at 118 N. Jefferson Street. The Dual Vision exhibition will be available for viewing and sale at Barrel 118 from the night of the reception through Saturday, September 24 during regular Gallery hours. (W-F 11-5 and Saturday 10-3). The show will then be transported to the Gallery where it will be on exhibit through the end of October. We love receptions at the Gallery, but could not pass up this wonderful opportunity to display this special show in that incredible venue and larger space.

What is Dual Vision?
As a reminder to longtime members and as an explanation for new members, since 2017 the Guild has collaborated with the Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee photo club for this event.  The photographers bring stunning photographs to one of our monthly meetings and Guild member artists of all mediums create art inspired by those photographs.   Four months later, we have the Big Reveal:  artists and photographers stand together to explain their inspirations and share their artistry.

The photos and the artwork go on sale in The ArtisansVillage Art Gallery, 110 W. Marion Street, Eatonton, and we enjoy a wonderful reception to celebrate the art.  This show is not a competition and there is no fee to participate, although you must be a current member of the photo club or the Guild to participate.  We have the public vote during the Exhibition and award a Peoples’ Choice for favorite photo and favorite piece of artwork.

When and Where is Photo Selection?
Photo Selection will be at our monthly Guild meeting on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:00 at The Peoples Bank, Lake Oconee Branch.   You may begin photo selection at the conclusion of our brief (10 minutes) business meeting at 10:00 a.m. Each artist can select up to two photos.  A photo can only be selected once.  Please treat the photo(s) kindly as you will be asked to return them to the photographer.

When is the Big Reveal?
The Big Reveal will be at our monthly Guild meeting on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at The Peoples Bank, Lake Oconee Branch.

What Can you Create?
All mediums are encouraged:  painting, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, mosaics, textiles, gourds, weaving, etc… You create whatever the photograph inspires in you. If you are a painter, you are not obligated to recreate the photo, although you are welcome to do that, too!  If you are a photographer in the Guild, have not contributed photos already through membership in the photo club, and want to participate, please plan to bring photos for Guild members to consider. Remember, if a photo is selected, the Guild member will take it with them in May and you will be responsible for providing an 8×10 matted print of the photo for the reveal, show, and exhibition.
