Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes

Dual Vision

Dual Vision: Art through Different Eyes is a collaboration between The Artisans Village Guild and Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee (APLO). Members of the photography club bring their best photos to a guild meeting and each guild member gets to pick up to two of them to transform into any medium of art of their choosing. This event is open to all members of the Art Guild and results in a beautiful side-by-side show at the TAV Gallery in Eatonton.

Exhibit on Display: September 24 through November 11, 2021

“Hey, You Are Not Getting My Mares!” by Ken Johnson  |  (photo; $50)

Steve Kipples Inspiration:

Stag Night

Title: “Stag Night at Sharkey’s”
Medium: Oil on canvas

Why photo inspired me: “Ken Johnson’s photo of the two wild mustangs fighting made me think of George Bellows famous painting “Stag Night at Sharkey’s”, a 1909 painting of club boxing in NYC. Bellows was a member of the Ashcan Group of New York painter’s that painted scenes of ordinary life. In Bellow’s painting, he put himself in at the back right edge of the ring, sketching the scene. I put Ken’s mustangs in the ring & him with his camera where Bellows was in the original painting.”
