Paint between the Lines
A creative partnership between The Artisans Village and Georgia Writers Museum
It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. We believe the opposite is also true: a thousand words are worth a picture. So Georgia Writers Museum is inviting all area writers to submit a story, scene, poem, or essay (but no more than 300 words—shorter works are welcome and encouraged) that can give our local visual artists, from The Artisans Village, the inspiration to create a masterpiece of their own.
Georgia Writers Museum is requesting the written works from local authors for this show. Then the final selected submissions will be posted online for The Artisans Village Guild members to review. Artists will be able to select one piece to choose as their inspiration for creating a new work of art. The pieces of written word and finished artwork will be displayed side by side. We will be announcing a few other events and activities to coincide with this show. We’ve also been calling this the “Literary Dual Vision.” Since this year, Dual Vision: Art through Different Eyes is celebrating its 10th year, we thought this would be a fun way to celebrate and collaborate with another local organization, Georgia Writers Museum.
TIPS FOR WRITTEN WORD SUBMISSIONS:
- Be concise. 300 words max.
- Be descriptive. Paint us a picture with words that the artist can then easily interpret into another medium of artwork.
- Be real. No AI-generated work. All entries submitted must be your own. See rules below for more details on acceptable content/themes.
SUBMISSION RULES FOR AUTHORS:

There must be something in the soil! Nine of America’s most celebrated authors called middle Georgia their home. Pulitzer Prize winner Alice Walker and best-selling author Joel Chandler Harris began their literary journeys in Eatonton, Georgia. Five more lived and wrote within a 30-mile radius of the Georgia Writers Museum.
In total, more than 90 writers from across the state are recognized at the Georgia Writers Museum for their literary success by receiving the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame induction, the Georgia Author of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award, or the Townsend Prize. Only three authors have received all three honors – visit us to find out who!
Georgia Writers Museum is dedicated to inspiring today’s writers and readers and celebrating Georgia’s literary heritage through exhibits, programs, workshops, and student education.
