Minimalist Art Show

Opening Night Reception – January 8,  5 – 7:30 pm

Start off the New Year with a clean start and a Gallery full of fresh new artwork.  Join us for the opening night reception of our Minimalist Art Show/Sale.  We’re asking our artists to think small.  simple. serene.  Less is more.  Limited colors.  Geometric simple shapes and designs.  Artwork that will soothe your soul and calm your spirt after a busy holiday season.  Find that piece of artwork that speaks to you and take it home to keep the feelings flowing.  We’re looking to find peace, calmness, serenity, and relaxation through this new art show… come out and see what the art makes you feel!

How does Art make you feel…..?

Why Art Makes You Feel….
Both viewing and creating art can influence your emotional state due to specific neurological processes:

  • Dopamine Release: Looking at art you find beautiful can trigger the brain’s reward center, releasing dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and satisfaction. This can produce feelings of calmness and well-being, similar to the feeling of falling in love.
  • Stress Reduction: Engaging with art can lower levels of cortisol, the body’s stress hormone, and increase endorphins, the “feel-good” chemicals, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety.
  • Emotional Processing and Self-Awareness: Art offers a non-verbal outlet for expressing complex emotions that might be difficult to put into words. This process can lead to greater self-awareness and help individuals process trauma or cope with distress.
  • Empathy and Social Connection: Art can act as a “window” into an artist’s inner world, allowing observers to feel emotions similar to those the artist experienced during creation. This shared experience fosters deeper engagement and can bridge cultural gaps, promoting social connection and empathy.
  • Mindfulness and “Flow” State: The focus required to create or observe art can induce a state of mindfulness or “flow,” where you are fully present in the moment and temporarily forget daily worries and the passage of time.
