The show will be up at the Gallery on the front panels starting this Wednesday, April 22. All pieces are for sale! It’s a great time to purchase an original painting from a local artist with very local subject matter. We had 40 people sign up for workshops, the paint out, or both. All paintings were done within 1 mile of downtown. Artists could begin painting at 1 pm and had to be finished and framed ready for judging by 5 pm.
Many thanks to our Award-winning Plein Air artists, workshop instructors and judges for the afternoon paint out, Allison Doke and Ginny Fergus. Thank you to all our volunteers, Shannon – our Gallery Manager, and all of the participants! Please stop by the Gallery to see all of the beautiful paintings up close.

Allison Doke – oil/acrylic
Allison’s workshop is now full. Spots still available with Ginny! Based in Marietta, Georgia, Allison Doke is an impressionist painter whose work is informed by a lifetime of global observation. After a 30-year career as a flight attendant—a journey she considers her “artistic education”—Allison now paints full-time at the Artisan Resource Center. A member of the American Impressionist Society and a student of James Richards, she focuses on the nuances of color and light. Allison enjoys sharing her techniques through weekly classes and workshops, helping students translate their own observations into art.

Ginny Fergus – primarily watercolor, but will take any medium
Ginny Fergus has been painting in watercolor since 1983 and has been a professional artist since 1995. She lives in the middle of Atlanta, GA, and thrives on traveling to paint. Italy, France, and England are her favorite destinations for plein air painting. She also leads painting workshops in these and other locations. This May will find her in San Gimignano and Florence Italy and in July she will be teaching and painting in The Cotswolds in England. In addition to her most gratifying career as a fine artist, Ginny enjoys traveling, reading, interior design, fashion, dogs and most animals, and spending time with her wonderful husband of 36 years and with her dear family and friends.
