I have been artistically inclined all my life. I naturally started with tempera paints and by college I bought my first set of oils. From there I tried acrylics because they were similar to oils but dried faster. Then I found myself thinning the paint to get a more “watery” look. It was then that I took an actual watercolor workshop and the instructor’s encouragement got me hooked. It was later during another watercolor workshop that a gallery owner asked me to join her gallery in Scottsdale, AZ. I was thrilled, but even more excited when my paintings actually sold. To this day it is still a thrill when someone spends their hard-earned money to buy my artwork.

I loved watercolor and eventually, a small group asked me to teach. I agreed for six weeks but ended up teaching 18 years. It was later during this time that I felt a need to branch out and returned to oil and acrylic. Now I find myself painting with all three mediums and enjoying each for what it is.

In college I thought I would be a potter, but I found that once I married and my husband joined the Air Force, painting was much more portable and the decision was made. I had fourteen addresses in twenty years moving around the U.S., Turkey and Belgium. Each place offered something new and exciting – people, museums, landscapes and more.

After my husband’s retirement, we settled in Georgia and after three more moves we settled here at the lake. I now have the luxury of a studio and paint nearly everyday as living lakeside provides an ever-changing view.

I am a past president and signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and participate in national juried shows with the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society. My paintings are in many public and private collections and have been included in numerous publications.
