Pet Portraits

We’ve partnered with several of our local gallery artists to offer custom, hand-painted pet portraits.  A custom portrait is a perfect way to celebrate and honor all the furry friends in your life.  They also make for a wonderful gift with a personal touch for all animal lovers.  See below for a sample of our local artists’ work.  Portraits are not limited to just dogs and cats!  As long as you can get a good photo of Bubbles the Goldfish or Alma the Alpaca, our artists will capture their spirit in the medium of your choosing.

When you are ready to place an order, please complete the online form, and Shannon, our Gallery Manager, will help facilitate the process with the artist.  Once you’re ready to commit, we’ll ask that you make a deposit (or downpayment) on the custom piece.  If you have any questions or would like more information, please stop in the gallery during normal business hours.  Wednesday – Friday 11 – 5 pm or Saturday 10 – 3 pm.  You can also fill out the form on paper at the gallery.

Pet Portrait FAQs

  1. WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?   Our artists will need at least one high-quality photo that clearly shows your pet.  Sometimes it’s better to provide more than one photo for reference and from different angles.  *The quality of the piece is dependent on a good photo that clearly shows your pet’s characteristics and details!   You can upload photos on the online form or email them to our Gallery manager.
  2. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?  These are all hand-painted pieces by our local artists.  Once your photos are received by the artists, and you’ve discussed size/style and price, most pieces will take 2-4 weeks.  All of this depends on the artist’s schedule, the size of the piece requested, and the type of painting.  Some styles are more realistic with LOTS of details that will take longer to complete than a more loose style of artwork.  The artist will give you specific details once you’ve chosen a style/size.
  3. WHAT IS THE DEPOSIT?  Once you’ve confirmed the Artist, size, and price for the custom portrait, you will pay The Artisans Village Art Gallery a 50% deposit.  Once the piece is completed you will need to pick it up from the Gallery and pay the remaining amount due.
  4. DOES IT COME FRAMED?  Some artists prefer to do a “gallery-wrapped” canvas which has a deep (typically 1 5/8 inch) reveal (side).  This provides a cleaner look overall, keeps the price reasonable and the art is ready to hang.  The canvas is wrapped neatly over the edges and painted on all sides to offer a nice clean finish, without a frame.  Custom framing may be an option to discuss with the artist if you have a special request, but that will be an additional cost and prices vary on style/size.
  5. Thank you!  We are so excited to have this custom pet portrait opportunity made available to you!  Thank you for choosing to work with The Artisans Village.  If you enjoyed this process and experience of ordering a custom pet portrait and want to support the mission of the Village, please consider donating.  The Artisans Village is a Non-Profit 0rganization and we appreciate any additional donation to help support the arts!
