Dual Vision: Art through Different Eyes
Dual Vision: Art through Different Eyes is a collaboration between The Artisans Village Guild and the Lake Oconee Photo Club. Members of the photography club bring their best photos to a guild meeting and each guild member gets to pick up to two of them to transform into any medium of art of their choosing. This event is open to all members of the Art Guild and results in a beautiful side-by-side show in Downtown Eatonton.

What is Dual Vision?
As a reminder to longtime members and as an explanation for new members, since 2017 the Guild has collaborated with the Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee photo club, now known as the Lake Oconee Photo Club, for this event. The photographers will bring stunning photographs to our May 10 monthly Guild meeting and Guild member artists of all mediums will create art inspired by those photographs. Four months later, we will have the Big Reveal at our September 13 Guild meeting. Artists and photographers stand together to explain their inspirations and share their artistry.
The Guild will host a fabulous reception at historic Barrel 118 at which the photos and the artwork are displayed for sale on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:30. We have the public vote during the Reception and award a Peoples’ Choice for favorite photo and favorite piece of artwork. After a long weekend at Barrel 118, the photos and artwork are moved to The Artisans Village Art Gallery, 110 W. Marion Street, Eatonton. This show is not a competition and there is no fee to participate, although you must be a current member of the photo club or the Guild to participate.
When and Where is Photo Selection?
Photo Selection will be at our monthly Guild meeting on Friday, May 10, 2024 at The Artisans Village’s beautiful, historic Livery Studio located at 109 East Marion Street, Eatonton. Selection will be from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Each Guild member can select up to two photos. A photo can only be selected once. Please treat the photo(s) kindly as you will be asked to return them to the photographers.
When is the Big Reveal?
The Big Reveal will be at our September monthly Guild meeting on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at The Peoples Bank, Lake Oconee Branch.
What Can you Create?
All mediums are encouraged: painting, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, mosaics, textiles, gourds, weaving, etc… You create whatever the photograph inspires in you. If you are a painter, you are not obligated to recreate the photo, although you are welcome to do that, too! See the link to the Rules and Guidelines for Artists below.
If you are a photographer in the Guild and have not contributed photos already through membership in the photo club, and want to participate, please plan to bring photos for Guild members to consider. Remember, if a photo is selected, the Guild member will take it with them in May and you will be responsible for providing an 8×10 matted print of the photo for the reveal, show, and exhibition. See the link for Rules and Guidelines for Photographers below.
